The Theatre Group now focuses on productions at the Nottingham Playhouse which portrays a varied and exciting program. Plus we get an excellent reduction on seat prices and within the group we can also book and pay later. This enables Marianne to canvas the group to ask who wants to go and then reserve seats. Productions are advertised by email and WhatsApp to members of the group, with a deadline date for payment to be received.

On this basis the group doesn’t require a meeting and, as no meeting room is needed, new members are able to join the group.

The next productions the group are going to see in October - "Once Upon a Time in Sokoto" and "Fences" in November.

Highlights from outings this year

In September 46 members wnet to to see 'Til the Stars Come Down' at Nottingham Playhouse. The play originally premiered at the National Theatre in 2024 and was immediately nominated for an Olivier Award. This play is set in a former East Midlands mining town at a wedding where secrets and loyalties are tested.

As with all performances there were mixed reactions to this play. A common opinion was that the two halves of the performance were very different. The first half was generally considered very funny whilst the second half dealt with more serious issues and some scenes of bigotry
and violence. Many people could identify characters portrayed the proceedings as the wedding progresses from original joy and appearance based to more realistic expressions driven by "in vino veritas" . The seriousness and abruptness of the ending were somewhat starting from the earlier joviality but thought provoking nonetheless.

Other performances of note atended this year at teh Palyhouse included a standout favourite from us of The Market Deeping Model Railway Club. Whislt other more challenging subjects also seen this year were addresesed in the likes of Small Island, The Beekeeper of Aleppo and Punch.
