Having reached our own era, in our discussions, our group is turning back to the first Millennium, starting with the Iron Age culture present when the Romans arrived. Since the invaders initially held the only written records, we will rely heavily on modern archaeological findings and landscape analysis.
Fortunately, new technological advances and collaborative studies are continually yielding more reliable evidence. This allows us to disprove older assumptions, making for an exciting exploration of a period that mirrors our current, deep interest in both remote history and the scientific methods used to study it.
Furthermore, because the first Millennium involved a continuous series of invasions and settlements, we aim to explore the vital social themes of migration and identity. These historical concepts remain incredibly relevant today, prompting us to look at how different populations established their place in the isles.
As part of this shift to an era that heavily contrasts with the 20th and 21st centuries, we are currently planning potential trips related to Roman Britain.
We would be absolutely thrilled to welcome new members to our group, along with their unique interests and fresh ideas.
